2014 Grammy Nominations

It’s that time of year again as the list of nominees for next year’s Grammy Awards is out. King Kendrick Lamar leads the way with seven nominations including Album of the Year, Best New Artist, Best Rap Performance and more. Meanwhile, Grammy winner Miguel is looking for another win, this timeĀ Best R&B Performance for How Many Drinks with Kendrick Lamar. Drake, Jay-Z, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Kanye West and Kendrick Lamar are all going head to head for the Best Rap Album gong.

THROWBACK THURSDAY: Jay-Z – Big Pimpin’ (ft. UGK)

With December 4th marking the birth of Shawn Carter aka Jay-Z and the passing of legendary UGK rapper Pimp C, we pay tribute to both of them this week in TBT with Big Pimpin’, their classic collaboration from Jay’s Vol. 3… Life and Times of S. Carter.

VIDEO: Jay-Z – Picasso Baby: A Performance Art Piece

After releasing a teaser video, Jay-Z finally drops the visual accompaniment to MCHG track, Picasso Baby. Filmed in a New York art gallery in front of a select audience that included the likes of Wale, Taraji P. Henson and Michael K. Williams, the short film is made up of footage taken from an intimate 6-hour performance of the song. Some parts seemed a little bit awkward and this is something we’d probably expect his Watch The Throne counterpart Kanye West to be doing but it must’ve been an honor to experience the exhibition.
