The latest artist to emerge on the R&B scene is PARTYNEXTDOOR (caps intended) and at only 19 years of age, the singer/rapper is attracting some serious attention. Another Drake associate, the crooner has arrived in a similar fashion to a particular drug-infused vocalist from Canada, with little to be known about him apart from the fact that he is the first artist to sign to Drake’s OVO Sound label.
With his first release, self-titled mixtape PARTYNEXTDOOR, the ‘OVO sound’ most definitely rings through but with a difference. Something close to a less intense-The Weeknd with a more uptempo, club-driven style; the mixtape is a strong effort although nothing particularly ground-breaking. Still, this project has a lot of replay value with tracks like Make A Mil and Wus Good/Curious.
